A contact in Sahut is a customer profile that stores identifying information and links to all conversations that customer has had with your team. Contacts are created automatically when a new customer messages you for the first time, or you can create them manually.Documentation Index

What a contact includes
Each contact profile contains:| Field | Description |

| Conversations | Full history of all conversations with this contact |
| Notes | Private notes about this contact visible to your team |
How contacts are created
Automatically: When a customer sends your first message on any connected channel, Sahut creates a contact using the information available from that channel (for example, the WhatsApp display name and phone number). Manually: Go to Contacts → Tambah Kontak (Add Contact) and fill in the fields. Via API: Use the Contacts API to create or update contacts programmatically from your CRM or other systems. Via import: Go to Contacts → Import and upload a CSV file to bulk-import contacts.Searching and filtering contacts
Use the search bar at the top of the Contacts page to find contacts by name, phone number, or email. Use Filter to narrow contacts by:- Tags
- Assigned agent or team
- Custom field values
- Date created or last seen
Tags
Tags let you group contacts into categories — for example,pelanggan-vip (VIP customer), prospek (prospect), or reseller. A contact can have multiple tags.
To add a tag to a contact:
- Open the contact profile
- Click Tambah Tag (Add Tag)
- Type to search existing tags or create a new one
- Press Enter to apply
Custom fields
If Sahut’s default fields don’t cover all the data your business needs, you can create custom fields — for example, an Order ID, customer tier, or subscription expiry date. To create custom fields:- Go to Settings → Custom Fields
- Click Tambah Field (Add Field)
- Enter the field name, choose a type (Text, Number, Date, or Checkbox), and save
Merging duplicate contacts
If the same customer has reached you through different channels, Sahut may have created separate contact profiles for them. You can merge duplicates:- Open one of the contact profiles
- Click … → Gabungkan Kontak (Merge Contact)
- Search for the duplicate contact
- Confirm the merge
